Selina pointed at the screen as she explained everything.

“I updated the weapons for the heavy cannon Evelyn and I are working on. This is a reflection of what you’ll have after it’s installed. You have three options from here. You can have us work on a different weapon, we can upgrade the existing ones or I can get to work on improving the plating.”

“The heavy cannon will do for now.” Harrison was sure of his decision. “Focus on getting the hull plating. While she’s doing that, Evelyn, you can start working on the weaponry for another cannon.”

“Got it,” Evelyn said.

“What else can you do with what we have?”

“The next upgrade is the engines. To get to the Blank Lands, you’ll have to change them. You have options there, too. You won’t be able to choose all of them. I can add a steam booster but the engines themselves will either have a solarite base or zithril base. Glacith would be best but we have none…”

“What’s the difference?”

“The solarite is better for acceleration. You’ll reach top speed fast. Good for stopping and going. It’ll have the Icarus moving fast in a split second.”

“And the zithril?”

“Higher top speed. You won’t accelerate as fast but once you reach top speed, you’ll move faster than you would with the solarite.”

Harrison crossed his arms while he pondered his decision.

“I don’t see how you can go wrong either way,” Evelyn said.

“You’re right,” he said. “It’s not a decision I have to make right now. Finish the construction of the heavy cannon first. I want it installed the next time we land, seeing as how we were interrupted the last time…”

Selina nodded then took the ladder to the upper deck. Harrison took a seat back at the wheel as they sailed through the sky. The sun was still high, lighting a path that was clear and blue.

Evelyn moved by his side.

He didn’t look at her as he spoke. “Is there something you need?”

“Nothing I need. Just wanted to let you know how impressive it was how you dealt with Clifford back there.”

Harrison smirked. “Is there a reason you’re attempting to flatter me now?” He turned to her. There was always a curious look in hers. A mischievousness he couldn’t quite figure out. It was as if she was always up to something. At the same time, it made her attractive in her own way, he thought.

“I didn’t know you were capable with a sword. Are they common in Duskpoint?”

“Everybody in Duskpoint gets by with a pistol and a wrangler. But when you’re a hunter, you’ve gotta be ready for anything. I had the proper training from the right man.”

“I suppose that makes sense. A hunter has to make use of everything that’s available to him.”

“How about you, Evelyn? How good are you with something beyond a firearm?”

“I think you already know the answer to that.
